Family Life Ministries

We all belong to a family and no matter who your family is made up of, we want to support you. The overarching aim of the Ottawa Adventist Church Family Life Ministries is to prepare families for Christ’s return.

The guiding principles of the Bible direct that Christians nurture the spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of the individuals, couples and families who constitute the fabric of fellowship in the church. When the church ministers to the needs of families as Christ did, they are restored to wholeness. Families who feel complete, and have harmonious relationships, are more likely to be dedicated to God’s goals (Colossians 2:10).

The Ottawa Adventist Church Family Life Ministries is working along with the pastoral team and the elders to ensure that our members are visited or contacted as needed. If you require or know someone who needs visitation, please contact us, and you will be visited or called by the pastor or the elders on duty for the month.

ChildrenZville aims to reach out to children and draw them into a loving, lasting relationship with Jesus. Children’s Ministries is not confined to the children of the church, but seeks to attend to the needs of all children, helping meet the temporal needs of children in the church and in our communities while earning their trust and friendship. Children’s Ministries also supports other children-related ministries, including:

  • Adventurer Club
  • Children’s Church
  • Children’s Sabbath School
  • Children’s Stories (during the worship service)
  • Pathfinder Club
  • Vacation Bible School (summer event for children that runs for 5-7 days)

Adventurer Club

The Adventurer Club aims to strengthen the parent/child relationship and to further the child’s development in spiritual, physical, mental and social areas. The Club caters to children from kindergarten to grade 4 and their parents, and includes a Little Lamb program for Jr. Kindergarten and an Eager Beaver program for Sr. Kindergarten children.

The Adventurer Club provides fun and creative ways for children:

  1. To develop a Christ-like character;
  2. To experience the joy and satisfaction of doing things well;
  3. To express their love for Jesus in a natural way;
  4. To learn good sportsmanship and strengthen their ability to get along with others;
  5. To discover their God-given abilities and to know how to use them to benefit self and serve others;
  6. To improve their understanding of what makes families strong.

Among its multifaceted features, the Club provides a meaningful and exciting experience as the children look forward with anticipation to some day being Pathfinders.

The Adventurer Club meets every other Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To learn more or to enrol your child(ren), complete the Join A Ministry form.

Youth/Young Adults Ministries

If you want to hang out, have fun, discuss important life issues while keeping a spiritual focus, this is the place to be!

The Ottawa Adventist Youth Ministries is committed to providing support and encouragement to the youth and young adults 16 to 40 years old by:

  • coordinating Youth Emphasis Days (YEDs) the second Sabbath of each month to train the youth in church leadership; and
  • hosting Adventist Youth (AY) programs regularly on Sabbath afternoons to close the Sabbath;
  • organizing social activities, including the annual winter gala for the Boys’ and Girls’ Club.

Youth Ministries provides support and encouragement for young people at what can be a most critical part of their Christian experience. The ministry aims to rejuvenate and motivate the youth to learn how to walk closer to God. Through activities listed above and more, we hope to inspire the youth to live righteously and uprightly during their every day lives. The Ottawa Adventist Youth Ministries understands that having a Christ-like conduct is not limited to church life; therefore, we want to encourage the youth to daily walk with God in order to be able to draw others closer to Him.

In line with the Seventh-day Adventist Church Manual, the main objectives of the Ottawa Adventist Church Youth Ministries are to:

  1. Train the youth to work for other youth;
  2. Recruit the youth to help their church; and
  3. Work for those who are not of our faith.

Men's Ministries

Men connecting with men in the church and in the community.

A ministry to and for men, Men’s Ministries aims to encourage men to love the Lord with all their hearts, minds, souls and strength, and to be the spiritual leaders of their homes, effective mentors to our young men in the church, and strong role models in the community. The ministry provides opportunities to address issues and needs that are uniquely male. Through planned events (seminars, weekend retreats and more) timely topics are explored and aired.

The Ottawa Adventist Church Men's Ministries provides opportunities for men to gather and to share with each other how to fulfill God's purposes for their lives.
