Faith In Action: Big Give

The Ottawa Seventh-day Adventist Church has been part of the annual Big Give event since 2016, offering care and connection through free clothing, furniture, food, haircuts, health screenings, children’s activities, spiritual encouragement and more.

On Saturday, June 7, 2025, the Ottawa Seventh-day Adventist Church once again participated in The Big Give—a nationwide movement of service and generosity to communities by churches —no strings attached!

The diverse and dynamic community of Britannia Woods was served by dedicated volunteers at 2860 Ahearn Avenue from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. They enjoyed a range of activities from deep breathing exercises, face painting and dental hygiene advice to fashionable haircuts and hair braiding. Blood pressure was taken and information on healthy lifestyles was provided. The delicious lunch, groceries, bicycles and children’s clothing were amongst the items sought after in the abundant free cycle. The Personal Ministries table was also a success. For the first time, the few Bibles we had available were distributed so quickly that visitors asked for more—in French, Spanish, and English. This enthusiastic response highlights a spiritual hunger in our community that we cannot ignore.

May the continued success of this outreach continue to inspire and motivate us all (church leaders, members and friends) to work together in unity and service for the glory of God.
